Orchid Observers Talk
The label spelled wrong. Found Garple Burn http://www.cucaera.co.uk/grp on Ordance set to 1892. Ref: NX655809 VC says 72 but actually 73
Chobham Common, Surrey June 1910 in my opinion
The VC32 on the sheet does NOT concur with the location of Greetham Rutland, which is actually VC55
Not sure VC2 is correct: Cawdor Castle is in near Nairne (Ordanance NH848499) Camborne Castle is in W.Cornwall Neither are VC2
Label spells it Seaton Links. Seton is in VC82 near Haddington. Links in Old English meant rising ground/slope
The label shows the location hyphenated but it is in fact not: GB VC92 VC93 South Aberdeenshire Bennachie NJ6521
Scratch Wood is on old Ordanance Map at: TQ205950
Upper teesdale not recognised but on researching Widdy Bank it was found near Cow Bridge Reservoir, Teesdale
The VC on the page says ?; if you look at the Place name the VC34 is on the end of the place name, which concurs with the previous visiteer.
The label refers you to a book "British Orchids" by Webster. Page 69.
Cheviotland was entered by someone, Cheviot existed in 1892 on Ordanance Map. I have amended to Cheviot Land as two words.
place name CARSE OF means fertile lowland beside a river. Searching on Ordanance brings only locations in Scotland.
Found the location on Ordance Map circa 1892, it is now Bainbridge. Tag: SD919863
