  VC listed as "HIST"? Does that mean H1? By writing clearly a very early specimen. Species name an amalgam of several.

  Collected by John Blackstone, 1713-1753. Not so much a name as a description in Latin: the binomial system was still being invented

  Yes a very old specimen. ’HIST’ curation annotation means “Historical’ specimen; no VC known for this one.

  The specimen was presented to the John Blackstone herbarium in 1947 but was collected much earlier - alas no collector/date/location!!
